After many years with recorded piano pieces and - at that time - simple synthesizers, Marcel's good friend, Tom Bakker, advised us to take it seriously with a real orchestra. Tom knew many members of the Metropool orchestra through his work as an arranger, and so a band was put together with rhythm section, strings and wind instruments with which the first CD “Ma Vie, Mon Amour” was recorded in 2000. With Marcel as composer and behind the piano the CD was presented with a concert in the beautiful old church in Kortenhoef. The music on this CD was mainly beautiful sounding romantic piano music, supported by the orchestra.
Some jazz music was also played during rehearsals before the concert; if only to play something different than all those romantic notes! It was Harry Emmery, the well-known jazz bassist of the Metropool Orchestra, who was jamming at the time and insisted on making a more jazzy up-tempo CD.
